Christmas came early, the ultra talented singer Mar just dropped a new EP When We Meet. You may have heard Mar previously with his well received collaboration with Full Crate, if you haven’t go check that collaboration out. Mar continues with his signature smooth airy vocals over different production styles ranging from acoustic to housey. The EP features Mar’s versatility and vocal spectrum which he effortlessly kills each track. This EP will not disappoint, just go get it!
Downtempo
Sipprell dropped the newest single Essence off her new EP, it is produced by the production group The Citrus Clouds. The track is dark but has this swing to it, it has the feel of two parts. The early portion has more of this uptempo beat but slow down to break down to a subtle beat where Sipprell’s eerie voice shines. I can’t wait for the EP, keep it coming Sipprell.
Most people regard Dj Shadow’s Entroducing as one of the most influential instrumental hiphop albums, it was able to merge hiphop with rock, soul, jazz, ambient, and many other genres and bring hiphop to a wider audience. It was ground-breaking; it showed the intricacy and creativity behind the sampling and arrangement of behind the production. Blockhead has been one beat maker who continues to expand and push Dj Shadow’s musical imprint, he continues to utilize and create these heavy sampled productions while incorporating as many different genres as possible. Blockhead’s new album Bells and Whistles carries on with his signature musical landscapes, as a listener you get fully immersed floating away in aural pleasure. Bells and Whistles chops up vocal samples over banging drum arrangements with some soulful samples. Do not listen to just one track, no start and stopping, give yourself the time and give the album justice and let the whole thing play out. Highly Recommended!
Mr. Moods’s new jazz interpretation album Jazz Reinvented is a dope combination of classic jazz, downtempo, with some bangin hip hop production. The whole album has this chilled out mellow vibe, layered with some great jazz samples. This is a late night album, it should be listened to while smoking a bunch cigarettes, contemplating the night.
