Back at it on this Sunday night listening to Gianni Brezzo’s new album Soundscapes Vol. 1 Music for Harlequins and it is a real heater. This album is just layered with dope musical landscapes and intricate arrangements that reminds me of medieval sounding guitars mashed up with some soul and jazz. Marvin Horsch, the multi-instrumentalist / producer behind Gianni Brezzo, created this musical journey for your to just aurally float away while being transported to another era while staying grounded in the present, I haven’t heard anything like it! Go cop this album.
If this is your first time hearing Gianni Brezzo, I highly recommend checking out his previous album Tutto Passa, another real gem!
I am guilty of sleeping on Melbourne’s soul group Hiatus Kaiyote, but thank god they are re-releasing their album. Hiatus Kaiyote originally released their debut album Tawk Tomahawk early 2012. The band blends jazz, hiphop, and electronic elements while keeping the neo-soul backbone to their sound. What makes the the re-release super exciting is that the lead single Nakamarra comes with one crazy addition, Q-tip! The Q-tip rap gives another dope layer to already solid song. The vocalist Nai Palm has this super mesmerizing voice,I can’t get enough of this track!
Canadian songstress Joanna Borromeo dropped a preview to the her new collaboration with French producer Häzel. The chilled and mellow production fits perfectly with Joanna’s crisp and soulful vocals. While Andreya Triana is working on her second album, the UK songstress released the single Song For A Friend. The basic and simplified combination of her vocals over the piano emphasizes the rawness of the lyrics. She speaks her heart on this single and I love it!
