The talented Robert Glasper is preparing to release the sequel to his Grammy Award winning album Black Radio. He just released the first single Calls and it features the brilliant Jill Scott. He continues his experimentation by breaking down different genres and mixing them together into this smooth form. I can’t wait to see the collaborations on the new album. Black Radio 2 is dropping October 29th, 2013. If you haven’t heard the first Black Radio, Go Cop it!

French songstress Elodie Rama gets the help of 20Syl of Hocus Pocus to do a remix of her new single City of Hope. This is the second single off her upcoming EP. The 20Syl remix adds this neo-soul hiphop vibe to her already dope vocals. I can’t wait for her EP to drop in October and I want more collaboration between these two. Highly Recommended!
West Coast soul singer Louie just dropped new visuals for her single Female Sensitivity. The video follows Louie walking around southern california while interested crowd watchers are photobombing in the background. The best part is seeing the candid photobombers do some ridiculous things. My favorite are the coordinated Fly Girls dancing. Female Sensitivity is produced by Quadron’s Robin Hannibal, the mellow laid back production fits perfectly over Louie’s smooth voice. I can’t wait to hear more from her!
I am guilty of sleeping on Melbourne’s soul group Hiatus Kaiyote, but thank god they are re-releasing their album. Hiatus Kaiyote originally released their debut album Tawk Tomahawk early 2012. The band blends jazz, hiphop, and electronic elements while keeping the neo-soul backbone to their sound. What makes the the re-release super exciting is that the lead single Nakamarra comes with one crazy addition, Q-tip! The Q-tip rap gives another dope layer to already solid song. The vocalist Nai Palm has this super mesmerizing voice,I can’t get enough of this track!
Canadian songstress Joanna Borromeo dropped a preview to the her new collaboration with French producer Häzel. The chilled and mellow production fits perfectly with Joanna’s crisp and soulful vocals. Since early 2009, the talented Joanna Borromeo was making music across many different genres from soul to jazz, she recently received the West Coast Music Award nomination for Urban Recording of the year for her latest album Kaleidoscope. I can’t wait to hear more of this collaboration. Highly Recommended!!
The legendary songstress Amel Larrieux will be dropping her new album ICE or Ice Cream Everyday on Aug 27th, 2013. This full length release has been five years in the making, but don’t worry the wait has been well worth it. Amel Larrieux has just released the single Afraid, the uptempo production with her smooth and soulful voice is perfect for a summer night. I can’t wait to hear the whole album. Check it out!
French songstress Elodie Rama just dropped visuals for her new single Strange Island, her debut EP will be dropping sometime in October. Strange Island pays homage to her heritage from the island of Martinique. The visuals layered with her eery but sultry voice, transports you to this exotic yet unknown place. After watching the video, you are left wanting more. If you haven’t heard her name before, I suggest you check her out. She has collaborated with a wide variety of artists such as Hocus Pocus, Natural Self, and plus she is the lead vocalist in the Blue Apple Quartet. Highly recommended, can’t for the EP to drop!
Danish electro soul duo Quadron has just released their sophomore album Avalanche. They continue from the highly acclaimed self titled debut album to push the boundaries and creating their own innovative sound. Coco’s soulful voice is so smooth, I amazed every time I hear it. Even though the production is more uptempo on this album, you can still relax to this album. Check out the track below with Kendrick Lamar. Highly Recommended!
