The ultra-talented UK singer Sasha Keable just dropped her second EP Lemongrass and Limeleaves a couple of days ago. While her first EP Blackbook was more reserved to solidify her as a top rnb singer, this EP is about exploring different styles while showcasing Sasha Keable’s skillful versatility. The first single Living Without You has this catchy 80s soul fee that flows perfectly with her strong vocals. But in my opinion, the standout track of the EP is Memories; Sasha Keable’s smooth voice stands out over the subtle dulled down piano. Go cop this EP from here, it is free!

The last few years have started the golden era for UK jazz and soul, you have seen artists explode like Corinne Bailey Rae, Estelle, and the late Amy Winehouse. The scene is still pumping out some great artists, these amazing up and comers aren’t afraid to cross genres and push the boundaries. One of these upcoming artists that is likely to make some power moves is Angela Ricci. You may have never heard her name but she has been a back up singer for some famous artists such as Kelis and the Heavy. Angela Ricci is ready to leave the shadows and become the main spotlight. All I have to say is watch out, she has the talent to become a big star. Angela Ricci has released her second single Lazy Love, she has this infectious voice that is so smooth. Lazy love has this simple mellow jazz beat that showcases her voice perfectly. Watch out for her EP, but check out the video below!
Reggae is a strange genre, the masses have heard its distinct sound through Bob Marley’s music, but ask a person to name another artist and they will tend to struggle. I don’t know why this is, but Reggae music has a deep tradition of both influencing and embracing Rock and Roll and Soul music. The fusion of Soul music and Reggae is one of my favourite sounds. The Delegators out of the UK are bringing back that Reggae Soul. The group combines early Reggae and Ska with that classic Motown Sound. Janet Kumah handles with lead vocals, her powerful soulful voice flows smoothly over the laid back rhythms. The Delegators have just released their first album All Aboard and it is full of heaters, listening to the tracks you just want to get up and dance. The album flows smoothly with this warmth till the end leaving you always hitting repeat.
I have been a follower of the super successful and funny British web series Brothers With No Game (check it out here), while the show is highly entertaining, they feature some great music. I discovered Dionne Reid, the UK songstress is one talented singer. She has this magnificent soulful voice which elevates the reggae soul production. Dionne released her EP S.M.I.L.E, while a good chunk of the EP has this more acoustic laid back feel, but don’t think she doesn’t drop a couple of bangers. The track Here I Come just makes you want to dance, her voice is infectious over the bumpin production. I can’t wait to hear to more from her, check the two track below and see her versatility.
Zara Mcfarlane is releasing her second full length album If You Knew her on January 20th 2014. The ultra talented UK jazz singer came on the scene with her debut album Until Tomorrow, it was well received that she received an MOBO award nomination. Zara Macfarlane has this unique voice that is a mix of an traditional jazz singer with some soulful undertones. The new album will be released on Brownswood Recordings, they have released 3 singles, one of my favourites is the cover of Police and Thieves by Junior Murvin, you see Zara Mcfarlane transform that song to her very own. Check the singles below and cop the album in the new year.
The super talented British songstress Sasha Keable released her debut EP Black Book last month. The nineteen year old singer has been slowly creating excitement with her smooth and silky vocals, the versatility of her vocals is evident with the diverse mix of different influences that are throughout the EP. My favorite track is the Asking for More, at one point Sasha Keable covers Bobby Caldwell’s What You Won’t Do for Love, and she kills it. Can’t wait to hear more from Sasha Keable, download the EP for free here.
Female emcees have always to had to try twice as hard to establish themselves in the hiphop game. Many of them had to make a decision to fit in a particular stereotype. They could be a rough and hardcore, in your face rapper or an over provocative and hyper sexy emcee. But the new generation of young female emcees are breaking down these roles. MC Little Simz is based out of the UK and what is astonishing is that she is only 19 years old. Hearing her for the first time, I couldn’t believe how smooth her flow was, it was like she has been practicing since birth. She released a mixtape in February which I recommend you download below.Last week, she covered Kendrick Lamar’s Sing About Me and it is on heavy rotation. Cop the treats below!
