Portland’s Reva Devito  and beatmaker Roane Namuh are releasing their Cloudshine EP as new deluxe version. The EP was originally released as a free download in 2012, but now has two new songs and a couple of remixes from Tall Black Guy and Tony Ozier. The Tall Black Guy remix of Should Have Known is straight up smooth, Reva’s vocals just flow perfectly over the mellow beat.  Reva and Roane don’t disappoint, Cop the EP!

Coming off the critical acclaim from his album Be Good, jazz virtuoso Gregory Porter released the titled single to his new album Liquid Spirit. This album will be his first on the legendary record label Blue Note. Mr. Porter has a powerful and mesmerizing voice and with the production being handled Brian Bacchus, this album is sure to be a classic. Check it out!

The talented Robert Glasper is preparing to release the sequel to his Grammy Award winning album Black Radio. He just released the first single Calls and it features the brilliant Jill Scott. He continues his experimentation by breaking down different genres and mixing them together into this smooth form. I can’t wait to see the collaborations on the new album. Black Radio 2 is dropping October 29th, 2013. If you haven’t heard the first Black Radio, Go Cop it!

French songstress Elodie Rama gets the help of 20Syl of Hocus Pocus to do a remix of her new single City of Hope. This is the second single off her upcoming EP. The 20Syl remix adds this neo-soul hiphop vibe to her already dope vocals. I can’t wait for her EP to drop in October and I want more collaboration between these two. Highly Recommended!

Brooklyn emcee Scienze released his new LP Ella on July 9th, and man it is full of heaters. Scienze gets the help of a multitude of different emcees from Blu to Fresh Daily and the production is provided by Vinyl Frontiers, Ski beatz, NAMELESS and many more. The LP showcases  the talented Scienze skillfully and effortlessly rhyme about the ups and downs of love. The theme of love is apparent through the visuals for the joint singles Quest(ion) and Answer. Highly Recommended!

Female Sensitivity

West Coast soul singer Louie just dropped new visuals for her single Female Sensitivity. The video follows Louie walking around southern california while interested crowd watchers are photobombing in the background. The best part is seeing the candid photobombers do some ridiculous things. My favorite are the coordinated Fly Girls dancing. Female Sensitivity is produced by Quadron’s Robin Hannibal, the mellow laid back production fits perfectly over Louie’s smooth voice. I can’t wait to hear more from her!

Maybe it’s just me, but one of the best feelings is when you listen to a track that matches both your mood and the weather. Reggae and a summer day go hand and hand. Jungle heavyweight Shy FX is coming back from a long hiatus by expanding his musical horizons by releasing a reggae album. The first single Soon Come is mellow horn filled jam that features  UK soul singer Liam Bailey on the vocals. The soothing horns creates the images of relaxing on a sun filled beach and forgetting all your worries. Can’t wait to hear the full length album which will be dropping soon. Highly Recommended!

I am guilty of sleeping on Melbourne’s soul group Hiatus Kaiyote, but thank god they are re-releasing their album. Hiatus Kaiyote originally released their debut album Tawk Tomahawk early 2012. The band blends jazz, hiphop, and electronic elements while keeping the neo-soul backbone to their sound. What makes the the re-release super exciting is that the lead single Nakamarra comes with one crazy addition, Q-tip! The Q-tip rap gives another dope layer to already solid song. The vocalist Nai Palm has this super mesmerizing voice,I can’t get enough of this track!

ImageFemale emcees have always to had to try twice as hard to establish themselves in the hiphop game. Many of them had to make a decision to fit in a particular stereotype. They could be a rough and hardcore, in your face rapper or an over provocative and hyper sexy emcee.  But the new generation of young female emcees  are breaking down these roles. MC Little Simz is based out of the UK and what is astonishing is that she is only 19 years old. Hearing her for the first time, I couldn’t believe how smooth her flow was, it was like she has been practicing since birth. She released a mixtape in February which I recommend you download below.Last week, she covered Kendrick Lamar’s Sing About Me and it is on heavy rotation. Cop the treats below!

Canadian songstress Joanna Borromeo dropped a preview to the her new collaboration with French producer Häzel. The chilled and mellow production fits perfectly with Joanna’s crisp and soulful vocals. Since early 2009, the talented Joanna Borromeo was making music across many different genres from soul to jazz, she recently received the West Coast Music Award nomination for Urban Recording of the year for her latest album  Kaleidoscope.  I can’t wait to hear more of this collaboration. Highly Recommended!!
